Proper installation is crucial: Gasket surfaces must be free of scratches, and compression should typically be controlled between 15% and 30%. Over-compression can lead to seal failure. Regularly inspecting the tightness of flange bolts is also necessary to prevent loosening due to thermal expansion and contraction.
These thin sealing components, often just a few millimeters thick, directly influence the safe operation of chemical reactors, natural gas pipelines, and even aerospace equipment. With advancements in material science, innovative solutions like self-tightening gaskets are providing even greater reliability for industrial safety.
